I started wanting to look at making performance work in public spaces that was visually engaging and opened up new conversations. However, I soon perceived a relationship between the accepting of a gift and the beginning of a conversation (i.e. to accept a gift is to begin a conversation, on some level). So this was the starting point for me. I've been working with gift for about a year and a half now, there's some stuff on my website (if you search for 'small gifts' on www.rajnishah.com) and I'm also writing an essay and making a dvd which will be available later in the year so can keep you posted. Would also be very interested if you want to send me anything as you write...
